Irish pig prices this week were in the range of 150-158c/kg.
For the week ending the 14th May, total pig supplies at export meat plants were 4,000 head above the corresponding week last year at 56,500 head. On a year to date basis supplies are running 9% higher.
In the UK, trade remained unchanged with market demand firm overall. All parts of the carcass are trading well, however, few price increases have been reported.
On the Continent, the pigmeat trade was somewhat weaker again this week with prices reported for pigs in most markets under some pressure. Reported prices for Grade E pigs were as follows:
- Netherlands - lower at €1.54/kg.
- Germany - averaging €1.54/kg.
- France - down 3/c to €1.51/kg.
