Irish pig prices this week were in the range of 168 - 173c/kg.
For the week ending the 11th May, total pig supplies at export meat plants were virtually identical compared to the same week in 2012, at 48,200 head.
In the UK, trade is reportedly stable as demand matches supply levels. Most cuts remain in steady demand with little change in prices reported. While trade for manufacturing product remains firm in advance of the BBQ season.
On the continent, the pigmeat trade was relatively steady over the past week, with prices reflecting this pattern across the key European markets. Reported prices for Grade E pigs were as follows:
- French prices remain unchanged at €1.52/kg.
- Dutch prices remain unchanged at €1.61/kg.
