Irish pig prices this week were in the range of 158 - 168c/kg.
For the week ending the 12th May, total pig supplies at export meat plants were 8,500 head lower than the corresponding week last year.
In the UK, overall trade is reportedly quiet. Demand for legs has weakened, while trade loins and gammons remains slower than usual as an overhang of stocks remains evident. Best trade reported continues for manufacturing product.
On the Continent, the pigmeat trade was subdued across some of the key European markets. Reported prices for Grade E pigs were as follows:
- France- up 1/c to €1.32/kg.
- Netherlands- up 2/c to €1.63/kg.
