Marketplace 2010 featured a Consumer Trend Zone that showcased the Irish food and drink industry’s ability to recognise and respond to emerging market and consumer trends.
Bord Bia has partnered with The Futures Company since 2006 to identify through comprehensive global research the main lifestyle trends shaping consumer thoughts, aspirations and buying patterns in the global marketplace. The six updated trends identified via 2009 research were featured as the central theme of the Consumer Trend Zone. The products displayed demonstrated our capability of responding to these trends through product introductions, packaging, branding, marketing communications, technology and activities.
Display Format
There were 6 Trend Zones with a maximum of 20 products featured in each Zone. The most innovative, on trend products were be chosen for display.
Each product was displayed with company and product details, as well as a brief statement as to how it is meeting current consumer needs.
Consumer Trend Zone Awards
- Each of the six Trend Zones showcased the product deemed to be “Best on Trend’. The award will be judged by the Bord Bia team in conjunction with The Futures Company.
- One overall “New Creation Award” was be awarded to the entry deemed to be most innovative, inspiring and creative. To have been eligible the products must have been launched in the past 12 months.

Winner: Butlers Chocolates for its Hot Chocolate at Home range
Trend: Fluid Lives (products that simplify consumers’ busy lives)
Winner: Natures Best for its Salad Shakers.
