Bord Bia’s FoodService Academy is run in partnership with Musgrave MarketPlace and is aimed at providing participants with tailored support and guidance to achieve key opportunities for their business with Musgrave MarketPlace.
The programme seeks to help participating producers grow sales within the foodservice, or out-of-home, market. The initiative also offers the opportunity to achieve growth within Musgrave MarketPlace’s foodservice business, supplying over 6,000 customers each week ranging from hotels and restaurants to pubs and nursing homes.
The total out-of-home market in Ireland was valued at €8.2bn at end of 2018 and is forecast to grow to €9.3bn by 2021. Foodservice in Ireland offers major opportunities for suppliers providing innovation products and solutions to meet changing consumer needs.

Participation on the 2017 FSA and our subsequent listing with Musgrave MarketPlace provided us with the necessary support tools to grow our foodservice business. I would advise producers to stay close to this channel as opportunities can come from unexpected directions. Foodservice has been a huge learning curve for us and doesn’t come without its challenges, but it’s also a really important avenue for our future growth.
