Small Business Open Day 2019

Bord Bia’s Small Business Open Day 2019 took place on January 22nd in the Midlands Park Hotel, Portlaoise

The event, which was attended by over 130 small businesses from around the Country, shared vital information on topics such as sustainability in the Food Sector, market trends and Brexit. The theme of “recognise your business potential” ran throughout the day.

 

The event was officially opened by Minister of State for Food, Forestry and Horticulture Andrew Doyle, T.D.

Bord Bia CEO Tara McCarthy gave a presentation which reviewed the challenges and success of the Irish Food and Drink Sector in 2018, a year of global instability in the market

The day consisted of a wide range of speakers discussing various topics such as as “the Overview of Retail in Ireland”, “Recognising your Business Potential through motivating yourself and your team” and ” Understanding the market, our consumer and the macro environment to drive your potential”.

There was two panel discussions. First one consisting of Tara McCarthy, Grace Binchy of Bord Bia, Douglas Faughan of Kantar and Diarmuid Murphy, Simply Better Manager, Dunnes Stores.

The second panel consisted of Kieran Walsh Managing Director of Simpli-Baked, Conor Spacey, Head Chef of FoodSpace, Bridie Corrigan Matthews of Taste 4 Success Skillnet and Gerry Duffy, Goal Setting and Leadership speaker.
