Driving Growth in West Africa Seminar, September 2021

West Africa, consisting of 16 countries, has a total population of 320  million and is an important market for Irish dairy as the leading supplier of dairy powders in the region. It is also a key market for Irish seafood and spirits.  From an exporter’s perspective, the region has it’s challenges due to geopolitical instability and dominance of the informal economy, however, a growing population, increased urbanisation and economic growth offer a range of business opportunities  for Irish exporters.

The West Africa Client Seminar was intended for Irish exporters seeking to enter or improve their position in West Africa. The event provided an overall understanding of the market and its opportunities, with individual sector specific sessions on dairy, drinks and seafood.

The event was introduced by Minister of State for Agriculture,  Martin Heydon T.D. with contributions from,

  • Tara Mc Carthy, CEO Bord Bia
  • Alex Goma,  Managing Director/CEO Grand Cereal
  • Oshiokamele Aruna, Managing Director, Tetrapak West Africa
  • Sesan Ibitoye Customer Solutions Manager Maersk West Africa
