Are you ready for Changes to UK Food and Drink Labelling and Packaging?
On the April 18th, Bord Bia will host a UK market webinar focused on important upcoming regulatory changes that will impact food and drink importers into the UK:
Food labelling changes:
From 31st December 2023 all pre-packed foods being placed on the GB market will need to comply to UK food labelling requirements. This includes a requirement to include the address of a registered Food Business Operator (‘FBO’) address on the label. In this webinar we will outline the changes required for retail and food service providers, the requirements to have a UK registered FBO and the implementation options that are available to Irish customers. Products that do not meet these requirements are unlikely to be accepted by UK retail and food service customers and companies are also open to enforcement actions from the UK market authorities.
Extended Producer Responsibility – Packaging:
The UK is implementing changes in the management and tracking of packaging being placed on the UK market. These changes include changing the responsibility for funding Local Authority household packaging waste management and they have implications for food producers and importers. Companies will be required to track packaging from Q1 2023 with a requirement for affected companies to report on activities (based on size and volume) between late 2023 and early 2024. In this webinar we will outline the expected changes and outline steps that companies need to take to prepare for these requirements. We will also briefly outline the planned rollout of Deposit Returns Schemes in the UK.
This webinar will be hosted by Donal Denvir and he will be joined by a panel of regulatory and industry experts.
