Tom Szaky is CEO and founder of Terracycle. Tom will talk to us about the future of packaging and the continuing roll out of Loop, his reusable packaging programme which is pivoting from an ecommerce site to bricks and mortar retail creating “a buy anywhere, return anywhere” model. Pilots have begun at Tesco, McDonald’s, and Carrefour. The Loop portfolio includes over 500 products from over 150 companies including Unilever, Coca Cola, and Proctor and Gamble.
Terracycle turns non-recyclable pre consumer and post-consumer waste into raw materials to be used in new products. Terracyle launched Loop at the World Economic Forum in 2019. Tom sits on the board of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation and World Economic Forum Future of Consumption as well as being an author of four books including, The Future of Packaging: From Linear to Circular.
Lisa McTigue Pierce is executive editor of Packaging Digest in the US. A packaging media journalist since 1982, Lisa has been tracking emerging trends, technologies and best practises across a spectrum of markets for Packaging Digest’s Global Community.
Lisa will share her perspectives on topics such as, the ability to maintain high quality packaging whilst adopting sustainable packaging alternatives, whether there are viable alternatives to plastic and if not how can the agri-food industry best optimise the use of plastic in their packaging. Lisa will also explore what is needed from policy makers to ensure a packaging circular economy is adopted and economically viable for all supply chain actors.
We hope that you can join us on July 20th for this 1 hour insightful session!
