In 2024, Coghlan’s Bakery achieved a meaningful reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions, decreasing from 0.184 kg CO₂e/t in 2023 to 0.165 kg CO₂e/t. This performance exceeded the company’s milestone target of 0.175 kg CO₂e/t, reflecting a steady improvement in energy efficiency across the bakery’s operations.

This reduction is attributed to gradual improvements made throughout the facility, which have enhanced energy performance without compromising output. In recognition of these changes, Coghlan’s updated its emissions target to reflect a more accurate, output-normalised metric, a move that supports more meaningful year-on-year comparisons and better aligns with production realities.

A key step in 2024 was the completion of an energy audit, which provided a detailed assessment of energy use across the bakery. The audit identified areas of inefficiency and highlighted opportunities for further development, laying the groundwork for future investment in energy-saving technologies and practices.

Coghlan’s 2024 results reflect a business steadily improving its operations with sustainability in mind. By exceeding its emissions target and investing in a detailed energy audit, the company has laid a solid foundation for further efficiency gains as it continues to enhance the resource efficiency of its bakery.
