In 2024, Compsey Creamery made measurable progress in reducing packaging intensity, decreasing cardboard usage from 12.65 kg/t in 2023 to 12.09 kg/t. This performance exceeded the company’s milestone target by 13.6%, reflecting a focused effort to optimise packaging across its operations.

A key factor in this improvement was the full-year implementation of a new packaging format for brand customers, who now receive products in 6 x 2kg cases. This change, introduced in 2023 and fully adopted in 2024, has streamlined packaging requirements and reduced material use per unit of output.

These brand customers represent 60% of Compsey Creamery’s total product output, making the shift highly impactful. By consolidating product volumes into more efficient case sizes, the company has not only reduced cardboard use but also improved logistics efficiency and reduced waste. Compsey Creamery continues to explore further opportunities to reduce packaging materials and improve recyclability.
