In 2024, Hickey’s Bakery exceeded its charity donation milestone target by more than 100%. This year-on-year increase reflects the company’s deepening commitment to social responsibility and local impact.

A key contributor to this achievement was the bakery’s expanded support for both national and local causes. Financial donations were made to Barnardos and Simon, two organisations that provide critical services to children and individuals experiencing homelessness. These contributions align with Hickey’s values of care, inclusion, and community wellbeing.

In-kind support also played a major role. . Hickey’s Bakery provided product to the EU GI programme at the National Ploughing Championships in Portlaoise, a major national event, and food donations to the local GAA club, supporting Cúl Camps, summer camps, and various camogie and football matches. Additional food donations were made to the local hostel, helping to meet the needs of vulnerable individuals in the community.

One planned initiative progressed during the year was the completion of a supported employment contract for a person with intellectual disabilities. This step reflects the company’s inclusive approach to employment and its commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for all.
