In the first half of 2021, Bord Bia conducted global research to better understand global sustainability demands around food and drink. The insights on this page are designed to help understand customer and consumer behaviours and demands around sustainability. This research can help the Irish food and drink industry to focus on the right sustainability priorities and arm it with the sustainability messages that resonate best.

From January to March 2021, we interviewed…

  • Agenda setters - sustainability thought leaders from NGOs, policy and senior sustainability, purchasing and operations leaders with some of the biggest global food and drink companies

  • Customers - >175 interviews with those responsible for purchasing food and beverage and/or responsible for sustainability and CSR policies in relation to food and beverage within organisations with annual turnover >€50m in 9 markets 
  • Consumers - surveys of >11,000 grocery shoppers aged 18-65 in 13 markets globally
