The Impact of Covid-19 on Airline Catering
Travel and tourism have been the sectors worst hit by the Covid-19 pandemic with airlines experiencing the worst losses in their history while facing a period of prolonged uncertainty. With 2020 global arrivals set to fall by 58-78% (UNWTO), severe measures are being taken by airlines to cope with the crisis. Changes are afoot on the ‘new normal’ for airline catering with reconfigured offerings and new protocols for safety and hygiene.
Bord Bia invites client companies to a webinar on August 25th with industry experts who will share their views on how to navigate through this period of change, manage existing contracts, and how best to support customers to prepare for a new era of air travel.
Margaret McCarthy, Bord Bia PCF Business Development Manager will be joined by independent consultants Dorothy Burton and Mark Tazzioli to provide client companies with a greater understanding of the impacts that the Covid crisis is having on Airline Catering and the implications for suppliers.
Topics covered will include:
- Changes to hygiene, packaging, handling and on-board services
- Impacts on menus and menu development
- Short and medium term expectations for suppliers
- Contracts & negotiations
- Longer term implications of Covid on the airlines sector.
Presentations will be followed by a Q&A session.
