Bread 41 to expand and open new restaurant in €265,000 revamp
Irish Times – 29.04.2021
Bread 41, the popular Dublin City bakery, is undergoing a €265,000 revamp that will see it expand into a new premises next door, as well as open a new restaurant upstairs. The bakery, which is situated directly in front of Trinity College Dublin’s new business school under the Dart bridge, is owned by Eoin Cluskey who has used the months of the Covid-19 pandemic to make some significant changes to the business. “We’ve expanded into the unit next door with a sort of lab concept with alternative sugars and grains. That’s been open for about 12 weeks. When Covid is done you’ll be able to walk in there and see the pastry room working. There’ll be a click-and-collet option there also. “We’ve transformed that (upstairs) into an eatery and we’re trying to figure out what way it will look with people sitting indoors”.
Compass Group invests in delivered office food solution
Business & Finance – 23.04.2021
Compass Group Ireland has launched a solution to the hybrid-working situation companies now face, as employers and employees decide on returning to work and, or, continued part-time working from home. The launch of the company’s Feedr app in Dublin, partnered with the catering group’s new virtual kitchen facility, Copper Pan Kitchen, will give employers a flexible and scalable way to feed their teams whether on-site in the workplace or at home. Compass Group acquired Feedr, a UK developed Cloud Canteen solution, in March last year to accelerate digital transformation of its workplace foodservices and as a key element in its ‘return to work’ strategy. The Feedr service, which will only be available in the Dublin area during 2021, will increase flexibility for corporate customers and facilitate social distancing thanks to app-based pre-order and pre-payment, agreed workplace collection points and notifications when food is ready.
