Bord Bia and ten Irish companies grow business at the World Organic fair in Germany

Date: 10/02/2016

Bord Bia, the Irish Food Board and ten Irish organic food companies travel to Nuremberg this week (10 to 13 February) to showcase the best of Irish organic food and to develop new export opportunities at the world`s leading trade fair for organic food. The event also provides an ideal opportunity to highlight the value of Bord Bia`s Origin Green sustainability programme.

The annual Biofach event brings together over 2,000 exhibitors and over 44,000 trade visitors from 130 countries under the patronage of IFOAM (International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements).

Bord Bia has actively promoted Ireland’s presence at BioFach through direct buyer canvassing and by highlighting the profiles of visiting companies. It is expected that 350 international buyers will visit the Ireland-Origin Green stand. The participating Irish companies are also supported by the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine under the 2016 Organic Market Development Plan.

The German organic market, valued at over €7.5bn, is the primary market for organic food in Europe and well-placed to host BioFach which celebrates its 27th year in 2016. Ireland has had a presence at the show since 2004.
