Bord Bia Finds Ireland’s Champion Potato Grower

The 2016 Tullamore Show saw Bord Bia hold its All Ireland Quality Potato Championships, with Thomas Carr of Killbeggan, Co. Westmeath named as this year’s champion. The contest aims to raise awareness of what constitutes a good quality potato. It is estimated that a total of 9,800 hectares of potatoes are grown by an estimated 540 growers in Ireland.

The winners announced on the day were:

  2. Barry O’Loughlin, Ennis, Co. Clare
  3. Martin Lawlor, Durrow, Co. Laois
  4. Michael McGoldrick, Dromahair, Co. Leitrim
  5. Margaret Prendergast, Claremorris, Co. Mayo
  6. Harold Lawlor, Durrow, Co. Laois
