Success for Irish companies at Top Cheese Awards in France

Bord Bia led Ireland`s first participation in the Mondial du Fromage cheese trade show in Tours (France) from 7th to 9th June at which the two Irish exhibitors, Cashel Blue and the Little Milk enhanced their international reputations when they were awarded Super Gold and Gold medals respectively in the International Cheese competition at the event.

Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers won the Super Gold medal for its Crozier Blue and Silver medal for Cashel Blue, while The Little Milk Company took the Gold medal for its Slievenamon Vintage Cheddar. Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers also won Silver for its Cashel Blue while The Little Milk Company claimed the Bronze for its Brewers Gold and its Cream Cheese with fresh basil pesto.

Over 600 cheese products from 20 countries were entered in the competition, with the judging panel chaired by Mr. Rodolphe Barthélémy, President of the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers and author of several books including "Cheese of the World".
