In 2024, Janet’s Country Fayre made significant strides in energy efficiency, reducing total energy usage per unit output from 1.13 kWh/kg in 2023 to 1.05 kWh/kg. This achievement exceeded the company’s milestone target by 1%, reflecting a strong commitment to sustainable production practices.
A key contributor to this progress was the installation of a new, energy-efficient filling machine. This upgrade not only streamlined operations but also significantly reduced energy consumption during the production process. The investment demonstrates the company’s proactive approach to integrating sustainability into its core operations.
In addition to technological improvements, Janet’s Country Fayre placed a strong emphasis on employee engagement. By fostering a culture of resource awareness and encouraging staff to adopt energy-conscious behaviours, the company ensured that efficiency gains were embedded across all levels of the organisation.
The appointment of a new Product Manager in October 2024 also played a pivotal role. Under their leadership, daily output increased substantially, allowing the business to produce more while using proportionally less energy per unit. This operational optimisation further contributed to the reduction in energy intensity.
