Energy consumption per unit of output decreased from 0.397 kWh/kg in 2023 to 0.356 kWh/kg in 2024, outperforming the milestone target by 8.5%.
This progress was driven by the implementation of several targeted initiatives. The company completed the Climate Action Toolkit, which provided a structured framework for identifying and prioritising energy-saving opportunities. This was followed by a comprehensive energy audit that led to key improvements, particularly within the refrigeration systems, one of the most energy-intensive areas of the facility.
Staff engagement was also a central focus. Waldron Family Meats rolled out energy awareness training to ensure that employees understood the importance of energy efficiency and were equipped to contribute to ongoing improvements.
