Session 3 in Origin Green’s SBT Learning Series explored the various levers you can pull within your own operations to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions and make headway on your SBT journey. Director of Origin Green, Deirdre Ryan, kicked-off Session 3 with a warm introduction and Strategy Manager at Accenture Ireland, Doireann Breathnach, facilitated the webinar.
The Value of Reducing Scope 1 & 2 Emissions
Firstly, we heard from Catherine O’Brien, Accenture’s Energy Transition & Sustainability Lead, on the value of reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions and the various mechanisms available to actuate reduction.
Delivering Scope 1 & Scope 2 Emission Reductions
Customer Solutions Manager at ESB Smart Energy Services, Ronan Geraghty, then brought Scope 1 and 2 reductions to life with case studies exploring heat recovery, heat pumps and solar power. Ronan provided invaluable insights on the advantages and effectiveness of each solution, as well as a brief introduction to various funding models.
Enabling Scope 1 & 2 Reductions
To conclude, Teymour Bourial, Strategy Manager in Accenture France, took us through the key blockers companies face in implementing Scope 1 and 2 reduction projects, and outlined the actions you can take to overcome these blockers, progressing emissions reduction and moving forward on delivering a SBT.
