Risk Categories for Exports to the UK
Whether or not Irish traders will be required to pre-notify on the UK’s Import of Products, Animals, Food and Feed System (IPAFFS) for SPS goods arriving in Great Britain from 31 January 2024 depends on what UK risk category their goods fall into.
Further information on which products are considered low, medium, and high risk is available on the UK Government website here.
Health Certificates and SPS Controls
On the 28 of April 2023, the UK’s Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) published new/revised UK Export Health Certificates (EHCs) for the EU, including Irish products. These certificates must be used from 31 January 2024 for export of EU agri-food goods to Great Britain.
