The UK government published the Border Target Operating Model proposal in April 2023, which set out a new approach to security controls (applying to all imports), and sanitary and phytosanitary controls (applying to imports of live animals, animal products, plants and plants products) at the border. In line with this, UK import requirements for agri-food exports from Ireland will begin to apply from 31st October 2023.
