Bord Bia is pleased to share an important update from the recent UK-EU Summit held on 19 May 2025. One of the key outcomes is the agreement on Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) measures, which is expected to significantly enhance long-term trading conditions between the UK and the EU.
The SPS agreement aims to streamline and harmonize regulations, facilitating smoother and more efficient trade of agricultural and food products. This is a positive development for Ireland, as it will improve the ease of trade with the UK.
We are currently working through the detailed outputs of this agreement in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM). There is no immediate change in trading conditions. Further updates and detailed guidance will be provided as more information becomes available.
