UK Customs Control update

All UK businesses that complete import declarations should have transitioned from CHIEF to the Customs Declaration Service (CDS) by the end of 2022. Now, the next major deadline is for businesses filing export declarations. All businesses filing export declarations must have successfully transitioned from the CHIEF to the CDS by 30 November 2023.

More than just a system migration, HMRC’s new Customs Declaration Service introduces new data fields, such as ‘declaration categories’ and ‘data elements’.This means that even those with previous experience in completing declarations using the CHIEF must upskill to ensure compliant submissions through the CDS.
