Border Target Operating Model – Implications for Your Business
The UK government published the Border Target Operating Model proposal in April 2023, which set out a new approach to security controls (applying to all imports), and sanitary and phytosanitary controls (applying to imports of live animals, animal products, plants and plants products) at the border. In line with this, UK import requirements for agri-food exports from Ireland will begin to apply from 31st October 2023.
On July 12th, Bord Bia hosted a webinar on the implications of the new Border Target Operating Model for Irish food and drink companies trading with UK. The webinar outlines the expected changes, provide guidance on how to determine the specific impacts by product, and outlines the practical steps that companies can take to prepare with their supply chain providers in advance of October.
This webinar was hosted by Donal Denvir, Bord Bia Manager GB, Damien Flynn, Head of Brexit and International Trade Division, Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), Raphael Ryan, Assistant Principal, Revenue and Lorcan Sheehan, Founder & CEO of PerformanSC.
