Top Irish athlete Catriona Mc Kiernan today teamed up with Bord Bia, host of Bloom, to announce complementary admission for the first 200 mini marathon participants to arrive at the Bloom ticket office, Phoenix Park, on Sunday 3rd June. The athletes must present their official mini marathon number to enjoy free entry and a Bloom plant from Long Life Plants. Bloom is Ireland's first world class gardening event which takes place in the Phoenix Park from Friday 1st - Monday 4th June.
"Bloom and the mini marathon are two key events taking place over the June Bank holiday weekend and Bord Bia is delighted to offer complementary tickets to 200 mini marathon participants. We look forward to welcoming the runners in advance of the marathon to relax and enjoy this stunning gardening extravaganza in the breathtaking settings of the Phoenix Park" said Aidan Cotter, CEO, Bord Bia.
Each of the 30 show gardens on display at Bloom has a distinctive theme ranging from traditional through to contemporary influences providing inspiration and ideas for gardens of all shapes and sizes. Unique features have been integrated into the gardens including elements such as a 1969 Morris Minor, a sauna room, an outdoor shower, even the ‘Berlin Wall' makes an appearance.
From health checks (Pfizer) and the perfect picnic solution (Tesco) to a glimpse of the gardens of Ireland (Fáilte Ireland) and many mad flowers (Keelings), there is so much to take in on this Bank Holiday weekend. The four day showcase will also include daily entertainment; Ladies Day on Friday June 1st; creative workshops, exquisite arts, crafts and sculpture displays; cookery demonstrations by Ireland's top chefs; outdoor food markets; a variety of specialty garden retail exhibits; AIB Naturally Wild Playgarden; live bee demonstrations; a 25m2 maze and Ireland's largest ever nursery and floral display.
