In 2024, Blanco Nino made significant strides in water efficiency, achieving a notable reduction in water consumption intensity across its operations. Water use per tonne of output decreased from 10.44 m³/t in 2023 to 7.86 m³/t in 2024, outperforming the milestone target by 13.2%. This progress reflects the company’s strong focus on resource efficiency and operational improvements.

The member attributed this reduction to a more efficient production process introduced during the year. Key contributing factors included improved production planning, the extension of production hours, and the implementation of more efficient cleaning programmes. These changes enabled better use of resources while maintaining high standards of hygiene and product quality.

Staff engagement also played a central role in achieving these results. Enhanced training and awareness initiatives helped embed water-saving practices across the team, ensuring that efficiency gains were sustained throughout the year. This cultural shift towards sustainability has become a core part of Blanco Nino’s operational ethos.

In addition to process improvements, Blanco Nino invested in new equipment as part of its chip line upgrade. This investment significantly reduced water requirements and laid the groundwork for further efficiency gains. The company has also identified additional improvements planned for 2025.

Through the completion of two key initiatives, equipment investment and staff training, Blanco Nino has demonstrated a proactive and integrated approach to water management.
