In 2024, Huître Du Connemara achieved a notable reduction in energy consumption, decreasing total energy use per unit output from 173 kWh/t in 2023 to 145 kWh/t. This performance exceeded the milestone target by 16% and demonstrates the company’s growing focus on operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.
A key contributor to this improvement was the upgrade of the company’s packing unit. The introduction of an electricity-powered conveyor belt and strapping machines replaced older, less efficient systems, streamlining the packing process while reducing energy demand. These upgrades not only improved energy performance but also enhanced productivity and consistency in operations.
To build on this momentum, Huître Du Connemara has initiated a feasibility study for the installation of solar panels. This study will assess the potential for on-site renewable energy generation, with the goal of further reducing reliance on grid electricity and lowering the company’s carbon footprint. The move signals a forward-thinking approach to energy management and long-term sustainability planning.
