In 2024, Brennans Bread reached a major milestone in its sustainability journey by ensuring that 100% of its suppliers now hold a sustainability policy or certification. This marks a significant improvement from 91% in 2023 and meets the company’s milestone target. The achievement reflects Brennans Bread’s commitment to fostering responsible practices throughout its supply chain.

Two key supplier developments contributed directly to this success. The packaging supplier, Boron, verified its greenhouse gas emissions to the ISO 14064-3 standard, demonstrating transparency and accountability in its environmental impact. Meanwhile, Shackleton, a long-standing supplier, achieved ISO 14001:2015 certification, a globally recognised standard for environmental management systems. These certifications not only helped Brennans Bread meet its target but also strengthened the sustainability credentials of its supply network.

To support suppliers in their certification efforts, Brennans Bread implemented two planned initiatives during the year. These initiatives were designed to encourage and guide suppliers toward recognised sustainability standards. By providing resources, sharing best practices, and maintaining open communication, the company helped create a collaborative environment where suppliers felt supported in their sustainability goals.
