7 tips to help you prepare for your Bord Bia audit

1.Don’t put off doing your audit

As soon as the auditor contacts you, agree a date and time that suits.

2. Completing your audit early won’t shorten your certification period

Your next 18-month cycle will still start from your current certification expiry date.

3. Know what to expect

Most of the audit involves walking the farm and talking through how you manage livestock and day-to-day activities.

4. Check your medicine records

Medicine records (purchase and usage) are a common area where issues can arise, so make sure they’re complete and up to date.

5. Ask for a printout from your vet or co-op

Your veterinary practice and feed merchant/co-op can provide account statements showing your medicine or feed purchases. No need to search for dockets.

6. For dairy audits, check your hygiene

Make sure the dairy is clean, surfaces are washable, and there are no obvious risks to milk hygiene.
